Speculating about pregnancy is not okay, royal title or no royal title

Princess Eugenie had a fairytale wedding last October when she married Jack Brooksbank at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. It was a day full of love and celebration, but the couple had barely walked down the aisle when baby chatter started.

Rumours and speculation about when Eugenie will start a family have been following the pair around since their wedding day.

Both the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge have been hit with similar speculation to Eugenie. Meghan had only just given birth to baby Archie when headlines about when she’ll have her second child were splashed across tabloids.

We may think saying things like, ‘When will we hear the pitter patter of tiny feet?’ is harmless but we shouldn’t presume a newly married woman wants or can have children. They may be struggling with fertility issues or they simply may not want to be a mum.

Princess Eugenie has been heckled with these questions since she married Jack and now her mum, Sarah Ferguson has hit back at the rumours.

The royal couple have ignored the speculation, which unfortunately only escalated the rumours, until now.

A video of Sarah giving a speech was uploaded to Twitter and the mum swiftly put the rumours to bed.

“No, she's not pregnant!” she quipped.

The newspapers have been full of rumours about her daughter which prompted the Duchess of York to address the journalists at the event.

“I'm just going through what the journalists say and they're all here, so I just thought I'd fill it in,” she said.

We need to stop speculating and remember that regardless of their royal titles and lavish weddings, the royals may face fertility issues and pregnancy struggles like thousands of women around the world.

However, unlike Princess Eugenie we don’t have to read about our family plans in every national newspaper or listen to the public speculate when our tummy looks a little bigger than usual.
