George Clooney demands more accountability amid Weinstein saga
Over the course of the last three weeks, news reports detailing Harvey Weinstein's alleged conduct within the entertainment industry have been increasing at an alarming rate.
The vast majority of stories have, in many ways, implicated the individuals employed by the movie mogul, while others assert that Weinstein's behaviour was Hollywood's worst-kept secret.
Indeed, a number of high-profile names have admitted they heard whisperings over the course of their career, but insist they were utterly oblivious to the extent of Weinstein's alleged actions.
Weighing in on the subject, it appears George Clooney is keen for all those who were complicit in the cover-up to be held accountable.
"Somebody knew. There were people that brought young actresses to his hotel room," the 56-year-old actor argued while appearing on Today.
"Whoever had that story and didn't write it, should be responsible. I want to know what kind of ad dollars were spent from the Weinstein Company and Miramax," he added.
The Ocean's Eleven star acknowledged that while he was aware of Weinstein' extra-marital affairs, the information was provided by Weinstein himself, and didn't lead George to believe that crimes were beng committed.
"Most of the rumours I knew, were from Harvey himself. I had an affair with in actress or that actress," he explained.
"We should have known this. This is violating women. This is assault. This is – this is silencing women."
