Lawsuit: Weinstein is set to sue his own company for email access

Following a number of serious allegations levelled against Harvey Weinstein in recent weeks, the 65-year-old movie mogul was dismissed by The Weinstein Company – a production company the New York-native founded with his brother, Bob, in 2005.

Yesterday, Weinstein filed a lawsuit against the company to gain access to emails which he argues 'exonerates' him from a number of the accusations levelled against him.

Weinstein reportedly believes that the emails contain information which will ultimately help him to find a wrongful dismissal case in court.

The claim reads: "Mr Weinstein believes that his email account – which is the primary, if not only, account he used during the term of his employment by the company – will contain information exonerating him, and therefore the company, from claims that may be asserted against him or the company."

"Mr Weinstein seeks no more than to be able to have access to the same information as his brother does to prevent further harm to the company," the claim continues.

Dozens of high-profile women have spoken out against the Hollywood heavy-hitter this month, with many claiming they had been sexually harassed, assaulted or raped by the father-of-five.
