What’s on this weekend? Here is your ultimate Dublin event guide

Is it just us, or do post-Bank Holiday weeks seem to drag a bit?

Either way we can all rejoice in the fact that the weekend is almost upon us once again, and with so much going on around the capital, staying in is off the table.

Here's our top picks:

Dublin Comic Con

Prepare for an explosion of colour, cosplay and creativity because Comic Con returns to Dublin's Convention Centre this weekend.

Meet the actors from your favourite TV shows, take part in one of the many workshops and interactive sets, or simply take in the electric atmosphere as you browse the many arts and crafts stalls.

Costumes are highly encouraged, and there's even a prize for best dressed – so, break out your inner wonder woman and show those judges what you've got.

Doors open at 10.30am on Saturday August 11 and Sunday August 12 (9.30am for VIP ticket holders), and doors close at 6.00pm on Saturday and 5.00pm on Sunday.

Tickets are €10.55 – €63.30 and are available here.

The West Cork Ukulele Orchestra

The West Cork Ukulele Orchestra bring their spectacular genre defying, ukulele experience to the Grand Social this Friday, August 11.

Armed with just nine tiny ukuleles, the WCUO will entertain the crowds with their playful versions of classic pop songs, and seeing as they've preformed for Michael D himself, we're expecting good things.

Doors open at 8.00pm and tickets (€10.00) are available here.

Happenings presents: LaLa Land in Merrion square

This Friday, August 11, Happenings, in association with 7UP Free will transform Merrion Square, Dublin 2, into a spectacular outdoor cinema for a special outdoor screening of the critically acclaimed LaLa Land.

A true modern classic, the romantic musical, starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, captured the hearts of a generation while picking up a few Oscars along the way.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics, but a selection of food, coffee and yummy treats will be available on site.

It all kicks of at 8:30pm but early arrival is advised to get the best seats in the house!

Tickets are priced at €5.80 and are available to book here.

Comedians From Father Ted at the Laughter Lounge

Get ready for a mini Father Ted reunion because the Laughter Lounge are bringing Joe Rooney (Father Damo) and Patrick McDonnell (Eoin McLove) back for a night of hilarious gags and giggles.

Joined by two special guests, the comedy stars will no doubt revive some of the best jokes from the cult series along with new material sure to leave the audience in stitches.

The lads will be performing on Friday August 11 and Saturday August 12, and doors open at 8.00pm.

Tickets are €26.00 and are available here

Fingal Film & Arts Festival

This year's festival offers a world-class line-up of independent film, music and comedy as well as top quality production and entertainment.
